The American Sewing Guild (ASG) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to people who believe sewing is a rewarding and creative activity and advance sewing as an art and life skill. We hope to encourage and inspire people to sew. The Raleigh, NC chapter has about 200 members who attend Neighborhood Group meetings in Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill/Carrboro, Durham, and surrounding area The officers and leaders are all volunteers. ASG members are welcome to attend any or all Neighborhood Group meetings throughout the USA. Non-members may attend TWO meetings; thereafter ASG membership is required. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in sewing, machine embroidery, etc. If you are interested in attending a Neighborhood Group meeting to see our 'sewing friends network' in action and hopefully becoming a member of the ASG, please contact Renee at The Cary Day Neighborhood Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 1030am to 12 noon. You can choose to bring your Destiny or Solaris and follow along real-time or you can choose to just come with a notebook. Either way you will have a handout to take home with you. Here are some of the fun topics we will be covering September-Party Coasters ? will take a shape and apply stipple to it and get it ready for sewing it out in the hoop. Saving work and recalling it so we create another step in the process. Using the Eraser tool, Along with this topic we will discus using Shapes with background fills. October-You will be able to make a cute little coin purse and will be completed your embroidery machine and sewing machine. We will discuss how to create a line image that will become an ITH project. Taking a scan of a stocking you can get a jump on little stocking stuffers. November-Hostess gifts are always appreciated. Join us while we create trivet that we will use constructed fabric in the construction. We will explore bringing images in from your computer via a USB drive December-Looking a personalized coaster that will have an Initial on it and will create a stamp so that the stipple will not be under the Initial. Using a scanned image to create an eye glass case and a needle case

Each month let us walk you through creating another wonderful design from Pickle Pie. For this lecture based class, you will not need to bring your machine, just pad and paper and we will provide you the software and instructions for you to take home. We will walk you through step by step on how to create the project.

The Log Cabin quilt block is perhaps the most well-known, best loved of all quilt designs. Simple enough for a beginner quilter to confidently stitch... ...yet versatile enough to pique the interest of a more experienced quilter. This beautiful quilt will create a cozy feeling in your bedroom, to cuddle under on the couch or have a picnic on. The basic structure of this quilt block is a center shape surrounded by strips, or 'logs'. In our example, we will be using 3 ?logs? on each side of the center. The Log Cabin in the Round combines multiple width ?logs? or you can elect to construct a more traditional same size ?logs? Your choice will be for 1 Day class (10-3) and a split 2 day class (10-1). The Saturday classes, 1st one will instruct you on the construction of the blocks and then you will do your homework and come back for the 2nd class for the construction of the quilt. You have another choice, make a traditional log cabin or a log cabin in the round. Fabric requirements here. Please bring a 6"x24" ruler, a cutting board and a rotary cutter to class.

Join Karen as she walks you through creating these delicate designs into a wall hanging. If you love Double Wedding Ring, you will love this take on that design. The 4 little hearts that are at the join of the quilt blocks add to the delicate look.
