Classes


The American Sewing Guild (ASG) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to people who believe sewing is a rewarding and creative activity and advance sewing as an art and life skill. We hope to encourage and inspire people to sew. The Raleigh, NC chapter has about 200 members who attend Neighborhood Group meetings in Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill/Carrboro, Durham, and surrounding area The officers and leaders are all volunteers. ASG members are welcome to attend any or all Neighborhood Group meetings throughout the USA. Non-members may attend TWO meetings; thereafter ASG membership is required. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in sewing, machine embroidery, etc. If you are interested in attending a Neighborhood Group meeting to see our 'sewing friends network' in action and hopefully becoming a member of the ASG, please contact Renee at caryday@asgraleigh.org. The Cary Day Neighborhood Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 1030am to 12 noon. We all hope you will join us for lots of fun and encouragement. You will not be disappointed!

Breeze into the season in this carefree layer of pure elegance! This jacket is designed to move easily from work to weekend. This jacket can be constructed using the serger, which makes the finishing touches a breeze. The jacket has slightly flared sleeves, either full length or ? length.

it's that time of year again! Christmas in July! Maddie, Kim and Jordan will be doing demos of everything from serging to quilting in the hoop to software demonstration!

Take your creativity to a new level. Join Kim and Karen our new club. Each month we will tackle a new project that you will be able to recreate at home. You can choose to bring your Destiny or Solaris and follow along real-time or you can choose to just come with a notebook. Either way you will have a handout to take home with you. Here are some of the fun topics we will be covering September-Party Coasters ? will take a shape and apply stipple to it and get it ready for sewing it out in the hoop. Saving work and recalling it so we create another step in the process. Using the Eraser tool, Along with this topic we will discus using Shapes with background fills. October-You will be able to make a cute little coin purse and will be completed your embroidery machine and sewing machine. We will discuss how to create a line image that will become an ITH project. Taking a scan of a stocking you can get a jump on little stocking stuffers. November-Hostess gifts are always appreciated. Join us while we create trivet that we will use constructed fabric in the construction. We will explore bringing images in from your computer via a USB drive December-Looking a personalized coaster that will have an Initial on it and will create a stamp so that the stipple will not be under the Initial. Using a scanned image to create an eye glass case and a needle case

Each month let us walk you through creating another wonderful design from Pickle Pie. For this lecture based class, you will not need to bring your machine, just pad and paper and we will provide you the software and instructions for you to take home. We will walk you through step by step on how to create the project.

Join Karen as she walks you through creating these delicate designs into a wall hanging. If you love Double Wedding Ring, you will love this take on that design. The 4 little hearts that are at the join of the quilt blocks add to the delicate look. You will get blocks that Karen has edited to include the quilting for each block so that once sewn together you will be done. No quilting to be done. You will need to purchase your pattern. Taking a look at more then threading with Kim. See how and when to use your decorative effects. Let?s talk about needles, decorative threads and where do they go. This is a very slow moving relaxed class designed to allow you to experience more freedom on your serger. All makes and models welcome.

If you have ever wanted to finish a quilt quickly, make a quilt completely on your own, or see what else you can do with your embroidery machine, then this class is for you. The Easy-Connect Quilting files and technique allow you to use your embroidery machine to get quilting results like you would see from a long-arm quilter. We will start from scratch stitching out a template and then quilt on a quilt sandwich . Please do not bring panel or quilt to work on, this is a learning opportunity and you will be able to work on you panel or quilt at home following class Requirements: Edge-to-Edge Quilting on Your Embroidery Machine Software (Main Package - not expansion Package). Edge-to-Edge booklet Quilt sandwich - fabric - 2 pieces 1 1/2 yards by width of fabric, batting to match Embroidery Machine with hoop that will accommodate at least 5.6" x 9.9" design. Through The Woods is an absolutely gorgeous project from Claudia's Creations. "Through the Woods" depicts the cherished childhood memories, celebrating life and families together during the holidays and various wintery scenes. The design is done in black work. However, you can make your thread color in whatever colorway you like best. The designs are multi-hooped. Clear instructions are provided for the multi-hooping in the instructions. The minimum stitching field for these designs are 6" x 12" and a grid/template is needed to do the multi-hooping. This is a fabulous throw size quilt that you and your family will cherish for years to come. Formats Included: dst, exp, hus, jef, pes, vip, vp3, xxx. Finished Size: 60' x 60". See our store sample for an alternate colorway. There will be homework between classes.
